UNC-Chapel Hill provides many sources of funds for students looking to travel internationally. Listed below are a few that are most relevant to students looking to pursue work with WiderNet@UNC abroad.

UNC-Chapel Hill Alumni Class of 1938: Annually awards summer study abroad fellowships to U.S. students interested in pursuing independent career or personal projects outside the United States. This is a unique scholarship program because it provides financial assistance to students who could not perform independent projects abroad without the support of the Class of 1938 funding. Fellowships of $5,000 each are awarded. The number and amount of the fellowships are subject to approval by the 1938 Endowment Committee board members. The application deadline is Feb. 17, 2014. International Internship Awards: The center provides grants ranging from $900 to $3,000 for returning undergraduate and Masters-level students who have secured internationally-focused summer internships. For more information, click here.

Graduate School Awards:  The Graduate School offers a number of travel, research and dissertation fellowships and funding opportunities. A list of resources for national fellowship opportunities is also available. For more information, click here.

Ronald W. Hyatt Rotary Public Service Award: The Ronald W. Hyatt Rotary Public Service Award provides up to $3,000 to undergraduate or graduate student public service projects, both local and international. Two awards will be given to support innovative public service projects that exemplify the motto of Rotary International, “Service above Self.” For more information, click here.

Carolina Experience Enrichment Scholarship Carolina: undergraduate and graduate students participating in study or internship abroad for the first time up to six months after graduation are eligible to seek a CEES Summer Fellowship Award. This year, one to three CEES Summer Fellowships will be awarded at $1,000 each. Applications from exceptional non-traditional, Carolina Covenant, student parent and transfer students are preferred during selection. For more information, click here.
